MP Eyes Global Green Transit Hub Status, CM Mohan Yadav Announces Big Push For Electric Vehicles

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is aiming to position the state as a global hub for green transit. At the National Electric Mobility Summit, Yadav emphasized that the state is manufacturing electric vehicles in large quantities and exporting them worldwide. The government plans to incentivize electric vehicles to ensure the benefits primarily reach Madhya Pradesh.

To enhance public transit access, a memorandum of understanding was signed with a bike taxi company. The state will also deploy female two-wheeler drivers to improve women's safety and employment. Transport and school education minister Uday Pratap Singh announced an infrastructure development plan for bus operations, with the government collaborating with private bus operators.

Safety features such as CCTV, GPS, panic buttons, and driver monitoring systems will be implemented on 150 city, 450 intercity, and 436 interstate routes. The State Road Transport Corporation's services were halted in 2005 due to financial issues, and the new service aims to provide modern, safe, reliable, green, and digital mobility.

During the event, Yadav presented prizes to winners of the MPYPIL logo competition and announced an Artificial Intelligence Innovation Challenge. Reflecting on Madhya Pradesh's connectivity, the Chief Minister drew parallels between historical routes established by Emperor Ahilyabai Holkar and modern transportation needs, such as Ujjain's recent capacity to host eight crore pilgrims.
