Mother's home-cooked meal left untouched after son dies in Johor crash

Batu Pahat: A mother's final home-cooked meal for her youngest son was left uneaten after he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident near his workplace. The victim's mother, Samsiah Kassan, 67, prepared a dish of sambal chicken for her son, Mohamad Shahrul Azizi Sa adon, 29, to take to work. However, he did not have the chance to consume the meal she had lovingly packed.

This was the last homemade meal she had made for him before learning of his fatal accident. The collision occurred yesterday at 7:30 am near the factory where the victim was employed. Upon hearing the news of her son's death, Samsiah's emotions were overwhelming; she could barely believe what she was hearing. Earlier that day, Mohamad had left for work as usual, unaware of the tragedy that awaited him.

Batu Pahat police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, reported that the incident took place at Kilometre 116 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Melaka around 7:30 am. The motorcycle and the lorry were traveling towards each other when the accident occurred, likely due to one of the vehicles losing control. The 29-year-old victim suffered serious head and leg injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver, aged 47, sustained injuries to his hip. The police are currently investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death through reckless or dangerous driving. This offense can result in a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to RM50,000 upon conviction.
