Lebanon president visits bombed Nabatieh site: 'No new talks with Israel'

Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun made a visit to the southern city of Nabatieh on Saturday, following a recent Israeli military strike on a Hezbollah stronghold in the area. Aoun, who was accompanied by top security officials, affirmed that there will be no new negotiations with Israel at this time. The Lebanese state-run news agency reported that Aoun emphasized the country's commitment to withdrawing Israeli forces, returning prisoners and displaced individuals, and ongoing reconstruction efforts.

The visit occurred just a day after a US diplomatic official disclosed that the ongoing series of US-mediated talks between Israel and Lebanon, initially planned for next week in Rome, have been delayed until October. Aoun made his arrival unannounced, and upon meeting with the residents of Nabatieh, expressed his support for their cause, as documented by local media broadcasts.
