ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit has revealed his top three college football teams after Week 1's action-packed games. Speaking on "The Stephen A. Smith Show," Herbstreit highlighted Miami, Indiana and LSU as the best teams in the nation so far. He praised Miami's new-look roster, pointing out the transfer of new quarterback Darian Mensah from Duke.

Miami's strong showing against Stanford solidified their place in his early playoff conversation. Indiana also made Herbstreit's top three after replacing Fernando Mendoza with Josh Hoover, who threw for four touchdowns in a 52-16 victory over North Texas. The team's offensive and defensive coordinators working together seemed to be a major advantage in Herbstreit's eyes.

LSU rounded out the list after a dominant opening game against Clemson, with new quarterback Sam Leavitt accounting for three touchdowns. Herbstreit credited offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. for LSU's early success, noting that Weis is running the show as an offensive coordinator and play caller. Notre Dame was also mentioned as a team to watch, with Herbstreit stating that they are "another team we just don't know yet."
