Kempton Park serial killer fears: Saps warns women after four bodies found

The South African Police Service (Saps) has issued a warning to women in Kempton Park's Rhodesfield area after four bodies were found within two months, sparking concerns of a possible serial killer. The latest victim was discovered on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe noted similarities in the circumstances: the women were found disrobed, with signs of bruising, and all within close proximity.

While investigations are ongoing and a serial killer has not been confirmed, the similarities are alarming enough to warrant a public alert and increased police effort. Authorities advise women to avoid walking or running alone, especially in isolated areas, and to remain vigilant. They are urged to travel or exercise in groups when possible.

Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has tasked a multidisciplinary task force, including detectives from the Murder and Robbery Unit and the Investigative Psychology Unit, to investigate the cases. Acting National Commissioner Brigadier Athlenda Mathe stressed the urgency of the situation, vowing that Saps will not wait for further incidents before acting.
