Julian Lewis becomes 1st Colorado quarterback with 4 TD passes in an opening half versus Weber State

Boulder, Colorado (AP) — Julian "JuJu" Lewis, Colorado's quarterback, made history Saturday by becoming the first Colorado quarterback to throw four touchdown passes in the opening half against Weber State. This achievement ties the school record set by John Hessler and Cody Hawkins, both of whom accomplished the feat during second halves.

Lewis concluded the half with an impressive performance, completing 15 out of 18 passes for 331 yards, and added a late touchdown run. He led the Buffaloes to a 42-14 halftime lead over the FCS Wildcats. Lewis opened the game with a 66-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr., surpassing Joel Klatt's opening quarter record of 211 yards against Texas A&M in 2005.

Lewis also had touchdown passes of 63 and 48 yards in the first quarter. The only setback was losing the ball following a sack, which resulted in a Weber State touchdown. Since taking over for Colorado late in the season, Lewis has avoided throwing an interception. The Buffaloes are learning the "Go-Go" offense under new coordinator Brennan Marion, which includes unbalanced formations and relies on Lewis' quick decision-making on run-pass option plays.
