Jammu's First Smart Library At IIM Provides Technology-Driven Learning Environment | Video

Jammu's Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has unveiled its first smart library, the Nalanda Library, offering students and research scholars a state-of-the-art, technology-driven learning environment. The fully computerized facility is equipped with the KOHA Library Management System and integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

IIM Jammu Librarian Shailesh K Lohiya explained that the library was designed to cater to the increasing digital preferences of students. The library offers a comprehensive range of digital resources, including over 56 databases and more than 2.5 lakh e-books, as well as 23,000 e-journals. Students can access these resources through a dedicated web portal and check real-time availability of books and discussion rooms online.

The facility also includes comfortable seating, innovative furniture, and technology-enabled spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of students. The library boasts dedicated discussion rooms featuring interactive panels, enhancing collaborative academic activities. AI integration further streamlines resource access for students, making it easier for them to find information and materials.

Students appreciate the convenience of accessing resources from anywhere on campus, including their hostel rooms, even when they are away for training, internships, or competitions. The library subscribes to a wide range of academic databases and is part of the One Nation One Subscription initiative, providing access to specialised resources not available at many local universities.
