Halilu: NASENI’s Clean Cookstove is Innovation to Help Families Beat Cost

David-Chyddy Eleke in Awka - The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasized during a recent event in Anambra State that the agency's focus on research and innovation aims to enhance the daily lives of Nigerians.

At the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) for women in the region, Halilu highlighted the NASENI clean cookstove as a solution to help families reduce the cost of cooking gas and promote overall health and environmental well-being due to its zero-emission design.

Halilu explained that NASENI's mandate goes beyond research and technology development, extending into practical applications that improve productivity and reduce hardships for communities. Today's distribution included the NASENI Clean Cookstoves and NASENI Support Pack, with the former providing a cleaner and more efficient cooking method while lowering household expenses and reducing harmful smoke exposure.

By encouraging cleaner cooking practices, NASENI is supporting healthier families and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Dr. Chika Anyanasor, a director at NASENI who represented Halilu at the event, spoke to journalists about the agency's objective of creating a multiplier effect among empowered individuals. This philosophy, encapsulated in NASENI's three core pillars—Creation, Collaboration, and Commercialisation—aims to generate lasting benefits for society and the economy.

Beneficiaries, mainly rural women from various communities in Anambra State, expressed their gratitude to NASENI and former House of Representatives members who helped facilitate the empowerment initiative.
