Eugen Polanski reveals Gladbach ‘shock therapy’ ahead of Freiburg clash

Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Eugen Polanski has revealed his team underwent a "shock therapy" ahead of their upcoming match against Freiburg. The phrase was used during the club's training week following a disappointing start to the season. Polanski's side is looking to tighten up defensively in response. Speaking to DAZN, Polanski admitted there had been little need to hide the issues after a string of individual errors.

He stated that the club had to address and show the four goals conceded. Polanski emphasized that individual mistakes were not solely the responsibility of the player who made the error, but also the reaction from his teammates. He explained that in at least two instances, the other players could have prevented the goals, highlighting the importance of how they reacted.

Despite the direct review of Gladbach's recent problems, Polanski also stated that the coaching staff worked to rebuild confidence among the players. The manager aimed to pick the team up, especially those who made the mistakes, and look forward to the match against Freiburg.
