China to ‘properly handle differences’ with India

Ahead of President Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to India for the BRICS summit, Beijing has urged both nations to handle their differences properly and consider their relationship from a strategic, long-term standpoint. President Xi is scheduled to attend the BRICS summit in New Delhi on Saturday, marking his first visit to India in over seven years. He is expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the summit.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that this will be the third consecutive year that the leaders of the two countries will meet, following previous meetings in Kazan and Tianjin. Mao emphasized that China will work closely with India to follow the strategic guidance of the two leaders, strengthen communication, and enhance cooperation to properly handle any differences and maintain a strong friendship rooted in good neighborliness and mutual assistance.

Mao also highlighted that BRICS has become a crucial platform for emerging and developing countries to foster solidarity and cooperation, adhering to the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation since its inception. The organization remains committed to multilateralism, fairness, and justice, and stands at the forefront of global progress.

As BRICS chair, India holds the upcoming 18th summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. This visit holds significance as it comes amid the Iran-US conflict and the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, with China ready to collaborate with BRICS nations to resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation, contributing to global peace and stability.
