Infrastructure development in the Chakan industrial area of Pune has accelerated, with a focus on alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity, according to Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi. At a meeting of the Chakan MIDC Infrastructure Committee, chaired by Dudi, progress on various road projects and urban improvements was discussed.
The meeting included representatives from multiple agencies such as the National Highways Authority of India, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited. Key works include a 5.5-km cement-concrete main road, a 4.03-km six-lane road nearing completion, and 14.65 km of road cement-concreting in Phases I and II.
Plans also involve a 5.70-km stretch and a 4.40-km four-lane main road, all aimed at improving the industrial belt's infrastructure. To manage traffic, 45 MSF personnel will be deployed, and a crane and 50 wheel clamps granted to traffic police. Authorities have closed unauthorized road openings, and a designated parking facility is operational.
Plans for a permanent drainage system, regular inspections, and landscaping are underway, with a focus on resilience during monsoon season.
