Hakim Mahkamah Sesyen Mazuliana Abdul Rashid declared a textile judge, Pavitar Singh Manjeet, and another man guilty of violent behavior in a recent attack that left a former judge severely injured three years ago. The prosecution successfully proved prima facie evidence against Pavitar Singh Manjeet, 57, the owner of Gulati’s Silk House, and Nor Imran Nordin.

They were charged with causing severe injury to Jagjit Singh Bant Singh using a screwdriver around 12:50 pm on October 19, 2023, near Solaris Dutamas. The attack was believed to be the result of family disagreements, with Jagjit being assaulted by two masked men seeking employment at his guam office in the Publika shopping center.

A third lawyer who attempted to help Jagjit was also attacked. The offense is punishable under Section 109 read with Section 326 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, which carries a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to 20 years if found guilty. The perpetrators could also face fines or imprisonment. Shahrulnizam and Asyraf have already been convicted and sentenced to two years in prison and one fine after admitting their guilt in 2023.

Their sentences have been increased to seven years after the prosecution appealed. Mazuliana set July 19 as the deadline for Pavitar and Nor Imran to present their defenses. Deputy Crown Prosecutor Wafa Zainal Abidin led the prosecution, while Jacky Loi and Lim Chen Chow represented Pavitar, and Amer Aizat Shamsuddin represented Nor Imran. Lawyers N Sivananthan and Jasmine Cheong acted as observers for the plaintiff's firm.
