Anwar to meet Modi, leading Indian companies on Brics summit sidelines today

Today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is set to engage in three bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi. The first meeting of the day will be with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, followed by one with India's current host and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The third bilateral meeting scheduled is with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

Additionally, Anwar will have a separate meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. These bilateral sessions will be interspersed with business meetings, including one with Adani Group, a leading Indian company in transport logistics and energy utilities. Other scheduled meetings include Adani Group, Segula Technologies India Pvt Ltd, a global engineering firm; AWL Agri Business Ltd, one of India's largest food and FMCG companies; and Motherson Group, a prominent global specialist in design, manufacturing, and logistics.

The day will conclude with a gala dinner for the summit's attendees at Bharat Mandapan, the exhibition and convention centre hosting the event. The summit's theme is "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," focusing on enhancing resilience, trade, investment reforms, and economic cooperation. As a founding member, India has previously chaired BRICS in 2012, 2016, and 2021, and will do so again for the fourth time starting January 1, 2026. Malaysia, however, is participating in the summit as a BRICS partner country since January 1, 2025.
