4,646 domestic violence cases recorded from January to July

From January to July of this year, 4,646 domestic violence cases were recorded across the nation, according to deputy women, family and community development minister Lim Hui Ying. She emphasized the importance of continuous efforts in prevention, early intervention, and the availability of assistance channels through the Women's Development Department's initiatives.

Domestic violence encompasses various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and financial abuse, as well as controlling a person's movements and relationships, now extending to the digital realm. Lim noted that domestic violence often starts with seemingly normal behaviors such as excessive control, threats, or insults.

To enable women to access assistance more swiftly and systematically, the ministry introduced PRISMAnita, which stands for Referral, Intervention, Support, Information, and Advocacy for Women. Launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on March 10, PRISMAnita aims to connect women with government services and relevant agencies more efficiently and user-friendly.

As of August, PRISMAnita @ PPWN had assisted 117 clients nationwide. The public is encouraged to seek help or report complaints through the 24-hour Talian Kasih hotline at 15999, WhatsApp at 019-2615999, or by visiting the nearest police station.
