Zahid takes veiled dig at Anwar over RON95 quota ‘U-turn’

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi criticized Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for shifting positions on the BUDI95 quota. Zahid, who serves as deputy prime minister, pointed out that the government had initially reduced the monthly quota for subsidised RON95 petrol from 300 litres to 200 litres in April, citing temporary measures due to higher global crude prices and supply chain disruptions.

However, the quota was increased to 300 litres again starting September, signalling a potential vote-buying tactic ahead of elections. Zahid expressed his dissatisfaction, urging Anwar to listen to the people.
