‘You saw raudra roop-wali in Bigg Boss’: Priya Malik on her transition from a vocal contestant to a poised poet

Priya Malik, the spoken word poet, recently shared her journey from a contestant on Bigg Boss to a graceful poet at her 21-city tour. She recounted how she would recite "Mai 2019 mei 1999 dhund rahi hun" during the final stretch of her show, signifying that the audience liked her work. This gesture is similar to the echoes of 'Irshad Irshad', a gathering of Urdu poets.

On September 5, at Delhi's Lok Kala Manch, Malik showcased her evolved version of herself, which was a far cry from the fierce version seen in Bigg Boss. She admitted to externalising her grief through outward appearances like colored hair, tattoos, and piercings. Malik's journey into poetry began at the age of 12 when she started writing her own poems, inspired by her first love.

She fell in love multiple times throughout her teenage years, experiencing love in its raw and expressive form. As she grew older, she learned to love herself first, which eventually led her back to India to rediscover her passion for poetry.
