Wasim Akram Calls Pakistan Team’s Mid-Tour Changes ‘Embarrassing’

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram expressed his disappointment over the team's mid-tour changes, describing them as "embarrassing." Speaking to cricket YouTuber Furqan Bhatti, Akram attributed Pakistan's issues not to a lack of talent, but to inconsistency and communication problems within the team. He emphasized the importance of consistency, stating that it is the key to success, but questioned how long such inconsistency can persist.

When seven players and two coaches left a tour midway, Akram deemed this situation embarrassing for the team and the captain, highlighting the significant communication gap within the setup. Akram, who has closely followed Pakistan's players through his involvement with PSL teams over the past four to five years, remains confident in the country's talent pool.

He believes that while coaches may change, the core players largely remain the same. Furthermore, Akram called for greater stability in Pakistan's domestic cricket structure, urging authorities to give the system a reasonable period - three to four years - before making changes. He stressed that this would allow the system to yield results and produce the desired outcomes.

In addition to advocating for stability, Akram stressed the need to strengthen grassroots cricket by reviving club, school, and college competitions. This, he argued, would ensure a steady supply of players for the national team, as the PCB only selects players once they reach a certain level.
