Vivas asegura que Moncloa le pidió “que no llamara más” tras días advirtiendo sobre la crisis migratoria

Ceuta's Mayor, Juan Jesús Vivas, has stated that the central government downplayed the warnings about the growing migratory pressure that the autonomous city had been sending over the days prior to the massive influx of people from Morocco. Vivas claimed that central authorities even asked him to stop calling because it was "getting very heavy."

However, sources within La Moncloa deny this account, stating that the conversations were cordial and efficient, and that they relayed Vivas' information to Interior, which already had it, but never transferred the notion that Vivas predicted a jump in migration levels on the scale of 2021 or higher, as ultimately occurred. Instead, he spoke of an increase in unauthorized crossings and that measures were implemented to try and curb this, although they were ultimately overwhelmed by a sudden surge that was not foreseen.
