Vance takes centre stage as Trump wraps up GOP midterm convention with voter warnings

In the final day of the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention, Vice-President J.D. Vance took the stage to share his vision for America's future, positioning himself as a potential candidate for the 2028 presidential nomination. In his keynote address, Vance emphasized the importance of the nuclear family, called Democrats a "party of hatred," and urged voters to "get out and vote" and "pretend I’m on the ballot."

As the vice-president is not constitutionally barred from running for president, his speech could have served as a platform for future aspirations. The convention also featured tributes to Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative figure who died recently, with several speakers, including Vance and Donald Trump Jr., expressing their admiration for him.

Trump's recent proposal to give every adult in the US a $5,000 dividend if Republicans win the midterms remains a controversial plan, given its potential cost and legal implications. Despite facing low popularity and criticism over various issues, Trump emphasized the importance of securing control of Congress during the midterm elections.
