Aaron Rodgers, the legendary quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, recently shared his thoughts on his controversial departure from the team. Despite a stellar career marked by four NFL MVP awards, ten Pro Bowl selections, and a Super Bowl victory, Rodgers' time in Green Bay came to an end amid significant friction between the quarterback and the front office.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN Milwaukee/Wisconsin radio, Rodgers revealed that Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst was the one pushing for his exit from the team. Moreover, Rodgers expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner in which his departure was handled. He stated, "The GM wanted me out of there," which he acknowledged as the primary reason for the trade to the New York Jets.

The 2023 season marked Rodgers' final year with the Packers, and he fulfilled the team's expectations by playing all 17 games. However, his performance was not as stellar as previous seasons, with Rodgers completing 368 of his 584 passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, despite a torn Achilles tendon that limited his snaps in the first game of the season.

Although Rodgers acknowledged that he could have done more to make his departure smoother for the team, he did express understanding for the decision. He added, "It was only a matter of time. They were just looking for one non-MVP season that was going to be that." This sentiment was echoed by Rodgers when discussing the handling of his exit, where he lamented the way he was treated during his final season with the Packers.

Despite a successful stint in New York, Rodgers' impact was not as significant, ranking 26th in the league in terms of QB Impact Metric. This led to Rodgers being traded again, this time to the Pittsburgh Steelers, marking the beginning of his 22nd professional season in football.
