SteelSeries wants $260 for a controller that instantly switches between your PC and Xbox

SteelSeries, a 25-year-old gaming peripherals company, has introduced a new controller called the Aeon Pro. This luxury controller is designed to support both PC and Xbox ecosystems, featuring a patent-pending QuickSwitch system that allows users to pair the device with both a gaming PC and an Xbox console simultaneously. The controller can switch between these platforms without any need for adjustments or reconnections, providing a seamless gaming experience.

The Aeon Pro comes with a QuickSwitch Dock System, which can be connected to a PC, modern Xbox console, and even mobile devices via USB. Once connected, the controller can instantly switch between the different systems without the need to re-pair, reconnect, or move cables. Additionally, the controller boasts an Unlimited Battery Life option, utilizing two rechargeable batteries that can be used interchangeably.

One battery can be used while the other charges inside the docking base, which also serves to store extra thumbsticks, charge spare batteries, and create a more organized gaming setup.

The Aeon Pro sports an OLED Smart Display on its chassis, which can function as a power level monitor and a customization feature. Gamers can use this display to remap controls directly, manage profiles and settings, and perform other customization tasks. Advanced customization options are available through the SteelSeries GG software application for PC users.

In terms of physical design, the Aeon Pro features a Hall Effect thumbstick that is immune to drift issues, and mechanical switches that provide tactile feedback and are designed to withstand millions of clicks. The controller is currently available in black and white finishes directly from SteelSeries' store, as well as select retailers and online stores worldwide.

The suggested retail price for the Aeon Pro is $260 in the US and Asia-Pacific regions, €260 in Europe and other EMEA markets, and £230 in the UK. Despite its advanced features, some gamers may prefer their existing controllers, such as the Sony DualShock 3 PS3 controller, for PC gaming and PS3 emulation.
