Steelers provide update on Joey Porter Jr.'s status for Week 1

The Pittsburgh Steelers have issued an update on the status of Joey Porter Jr. for their Week 1 regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. According to Friday's injury report, Porter is listed as questionable to play in Sunday's game. He has been limited in practice each day. No other Steelers players are on the injury report for Week 1.

Porter had spent the entire training camp on the physically unable to perform list before being activated to the active roster recently. However, his availability might hinge more on his contract negotiations than a lingering back issue. If Porter does not play in Week 1, cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. could see increased playing time alongside Jamel Dean.
