Sindh govt to seek cabinet nod for logistics park, purchase of EV buses

Karachi - The Sindh government announced on Thursday its intention to seek cabinet approval for two major transportation projects: constructing a logistics park and acquiring 500 electric vehicle (EV) buses, according to a statement released on Thursday. This decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) Board, chaired by Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The meeting, attended by board members, SMTA Secretary Asad Zamin, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, SMTA Managing Director Behzad Memon, DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, and other relevant officials, focused on expanding the province's mass transit system, promoting modern and environmentally-friendly public transport, establishing a logistics park, purchasing EV buses, and other transportation sector matters.

Memon emphasized that the creation of a logistics park would be a groundbreaking initiative for Karachi residents. He explained that the park would alleviate traffic congestion, contributing to a more efficient transportation system in the city. Moreover, the logistics park would propel the province's transport and logistics sector forward, adopting contemporary methods, he added.

Memon instructed the relevant authorities to expedite the completion of necessary technical and administrative procedures for these projects, signaling the Sindh government's commitment to advancing its modern public transport agenda.
