Serian records country's highest API reading at 195

KUALA LUMPUR: The Serian region in Malaysia has reported the nation's highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 195, according to data from the Department of Environment's Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS). This reading was taken at 8am today. In total, 15 locations across the country are experiencing unhealthy air quality due to ongoing transboundary haze.

Sarawak has the majority of these unhealthy locations, with 11 out of the 15 areas affected. The city of Kuching in Sarawak recorded the second-highest API reading of 180. Other notable readings include Samarahan at 179, Sri Aman at 171, Sarikei at 164, Samalaju at 161, Sibu at 157, Mukah at 155, Bintulu at 152, Miri at 147, and ILP Miri at 117.

In Sabah, Kota Kinabalu recorded an API reading of 150, while Labuan had a reading of 133. On the peninsula, Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur recorded an API reading of 127, and Johor had one unhealthy reading in Pasir Gudang with a reading of 116. Moderate API readings were recorded at 48 stations, with values ranging from 0 to 50. Any API reading above 300 is considered hazardous.
