Sept 27 protest fuels opposition unity drive

As the September 27 protest drew near, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intensified its efforts to unite opposition parties, extending an invitation to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The PTI Chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, met with Fazlur Rehman and other opposition leaders at the latter's residence to discuss their shared goals for the protest, an all-parties conference, and the formation of a joint opposition.

PTI sources revealed that Fazlur Rehman and his party had agreed in principle on a joint opposition for both the National Assembly and Senate, covering discussions on new provinces, parliamentary sessions, and prisoner issues. Both sides aimed to address the country's worsening political, constitutional, and economic challenges during the proposed all-parties conference.
