Seoul, Bangkok teens bridge history and culture to build global friendships

Sixty teenagers from Seoul and Bangkok have concluded a vibrant five-day cultural exchange, forging cross-border friendships while delving into the rich historical ties between their two countries. The program, organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, saw 30 young participants from Bangkok travel to South Korea from Monday through Friday. Now in its 15th year, the ongoing exchange connects the youth of both metropolises through immersive cultural experiences and shared heritage.

The delegation, accompanied by 10 chaperones and city officials, kicked off the week on Monday at Gwanghwamun Square’s "Garden of Gratitude." There, they paid tribute to Thailand’s crucial role during the 1950-53 Korean War. Thailand was among the first nations to provide essential aid, dispatching food supplies and deploying land, naval, and air units under the United Nations Command. Thai soldiers earned the nickname "Little Tigers" for their valor on the front lines.

Beyond the historical reflections, the itinerary quickly immersed the participants in the modern pulse of Seoul.
