Salesforce introduces new AI agents to automate sales, support tasks

Salesforce has unveiled a suite of AI agents aimed at boosting productivity for sales and support teams. The new agents, rolling out alongside an updated version of Agentforce Coworker, a tool integrated into multiple cloud services, are set to launch by the end of the year. The initial agent, named Hunter, assists B2B sales personnel in discovering leads, drafting outreach emails, and managing the subsequent stages of the sales process.

Hunter's long-horizon runtime allows it to create long-term plans and reuse data across conversations, enabling it to work over extended periods, such as weeks, to close deals. This feature is currently exclusive to Hunter but will be integrated into other agents in the future. The other sales-focused agents introduced today are Piper and Carter.

Piper greets business prospects on company websites and directs them to relevant sales representatives, while Carter helps e-commerce businesses answer customer product inquiries and offers an in-chat checkout feature. For customer support teams, Salesforce is providing Casey, which can automate product return requests, and Fin, designed for similar support tasks.

Both agents leverage technology from a $3.6 billion acquisition completed earlier this year. Additionally, Salesforce is releasing Paige, an internal help desk agent capable of addressing HR inquiries and technical support requests, as well as Marshall, which will automate repetitive tasks for supply chain teams. Companies can customize these agents using Agent Script, a programming syntax that allows developers to specify how an agent should execute important tasks to minimize hallucinations.

The new agents are being released alongside updates to Agentforce Coworker, which enables workers to interact with business data, such as customer records, and manage other agents created by colleagues. Multi-Agent Orchestration, a new feature, allows Agentforce Coworker to split complex tasks among multiple specialized subagents, while continuous optimization of subagents' output quality and AI Skills make it easier for users to tailor Agentforce Coworker's task execution to their needs.
