Russia has fired its Oreshnik with six warheads at Ukraine three times. State Duma defense committee member says “hour is not far” before fourth one

Russia's defense committee member, Andrei Kolesnik, has warned that Ukraine could soon suffer from another strike using the Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile. Kolesnik stated that "the hour is not far" when Ukraine will feel the full impact of an Oreshnik strike, portraying it as retaliation for a Ukrainian attack on Russia's Sochi city.

This is not Russia's first Oreshnik strike on Ukraine; they have fired it three times before, first hitting Dnipro in November 2024, then Lviv Oblast in January, and finally Bila Tserkva near Kyiv Oblast in May. Kolesnik framed the upcoming strike as an answer to Ukraine's alleged terrorism against civilians, specifically mentioning a recent Ukrainian attack on Sochi, where Ukraine employed unmanned naval boats instead of drones.

He emphasized that Ukraine's actions constitute a "terrorist attack in its purest form" and warned that "the hour is not far when the Ukrainian side will feel what Oreshnik is." However, he did not mention that Russia conducts numerous daily attacks on Ukraine. Kyiv has been under constant assault by jet-powered drones, triggering alerts almost hourly since August 27.

Additionally, Russia has been launching two ballistic missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital twice a week, causing $12 million in damages per strike and resulting in civilian casualties. The missile's intensity extends beyond Kyiv, as other regions, including the east and south of Ukraine, also face frequent Russian attacks with similar severity.

The Oreshnik missile, equipped with six warheads and traveling at Mach 11, serves more as a message than a weapon. It was launched from Kapustin Yar range in southern Russia for the three strikes. To intensify its pressure, Russia has deployed a missile brigade to Belarus, positioning it closer to European borders.
