Roblox to launch wallet to pay creators faster and will allow off-platform gaming

Roblox, the popular gaming platform, announced on Friday plans to launch a digital wallet to expedite payments to creators. The wallet will allow creators to receive their earnings in real-time and transfer them to a bank account. Currently, creators must manually request conversion of their virtual currency, Robux, into dollars and wait for a lengthy payment delay.

The wallet will be available to adult creators in the United States starting in December and will later be rolled out globally in 2027, alongside a corresponding payment card. Roblox, which has paid out over $5 billion to creators since its inception in 2013, has been under scrutiny for its handling of children's safety concerns.

The new wallet will be managed by payment company Airwallex and will be extended to teenagers with parental consent by 2027. Additionally, Roblox is introducing a feature that allows users to launch games directly from the Chrome browser via a shared link, enabling distribution as standalone apps on various platforms.
