Prosecutors seek up to 10 years prison over violent burglary of Donnarumma

French prosecutors have demanded up to 10 years in prison for three men accused of violently kidnapping Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his pregnant girlfriend during a burglary at their Paris apartment in July 2023. The 27-year-old footballer, who played for Paris Saint-Germain at the time, was bound and threatened by four masked intruders who broke into their ninth-floor apartment via the rooftops.

His partner suffered a miscarriage due to the trauma of the incident. The gang stole cash, jewelry, watches and luxury items worth nearly one million euros. The prosecutor emphasized that this type of crime is highly lucrative and extremely violent, often targeting celebrities. During the trial, one of the co-defendants, Moktar D., claimed he only acted as a lookout, while his childhood friend took his own life in prison.
