Police present N26.4m insurance payout to families of 52 fallen officers in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has distributed N26.4 million in insurance payouts to the families of 52 fallen officers who died while on active duty. On Friday, Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso presented the cheques on behalf of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu at the command's office in Owerri. The distribution is part of the Group Life Assurance/Group Personnel Accident Scheme, designed to financially support the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

In a statement, Bosso expressed condolences to the beneficiaries and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the deceased officers. He assured them of the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to their welfare. The beneficiaries present included Felista Okorie, Gift Chidera Omini, Stella Chidinma Nwosu, Nkeiruka Okparada, Florence Offoegbu, Edith Ogochukwu Onyekwere, and others.

Nwosu, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the Inspector-General and the Commissioner of Police for the gesture, stating that the financial assistance would provide meaningful support to their families. The Imo State Police Command noted that the payment is part of sustained welfare initiatives for families of fallen officers, reaffirming their commitment to honoring the sacrifices of personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
