Podcaster Katie Miller Vilified ChatGPT For Nine Months Without Disclosing Her $1 Million Stake Elon Musk's xAI

Conservative podcaster Katie Miller has been viciously criticizing AI chatbots ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini on her social media for nine months, lambasting them for alleged liberal bias, threats to children, and lax security. However, what she failed to disclose to her audience is her substantial financial stake in Elon Musk's xAI, the formidable rival to the companies she was condemning.

The undisclosed stake, valued at over $1 million, belongs to Katie Miller, the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Miller, who has a background as a former communications director and press secretary in the vice president's office, and later a liaison to the Department of Government Efficiency, reportedly acquired the stake on December 19, 2025, around ten days after Elon Musk appeared as a guest on her podcast to discuss xAI.

Musk's appearance on Miller's podcast did not require her to disclose any financial ties to the company. In the period following her investment, Katie Miller uploaded over 400 posts critical of ChatGPT, its parent company OpenAI, or its CEO Sam Altman, with the majority of her posts being negative. She also directed her criticism at Anthropic 64 times and Google's Gemini 33 times.

Prior to investing in xAI, Miller had seldom mentioned OpenAI or other chatbots on her social media. One such post read, "ChatGPT says President Trump is a 9 out of 10 level threat to Democracy. Imagine this AI in your kids' classrooms with its revisionist history. This is the fundamental problem with having AI companies in leftist San Francisco."

Despite her vehement criticism, Katie Miller has maintained that she is not being paid to post and that her comments reflect her personal beliefs rather than any financial motive. She said, "I'm not getting paid to post, I do it for the love of the game," on X, the same day the Washington Post's story was published.
