OpenAI weighs hitting the brakes on AI, hoping rivals accept a ceasefire they might just ignore
In a race, it's always risky to stop to take a breather and hope that your opponents will do the same, especially if you're the one to beat. OpenAI seems to believe it has a shot, as it's currently mulling over putting the brakes on AI advancement for now, with the hope that the rivals snapping at its heels will also opt to take a rest.
