NPP balloting: Boadu, Crabbe, Afoko draw positions for chairmanship race

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has concluded its balloting for the national executive elections slated for October 3, 2026. The balloting, which took place on September 9, determined the positions of aspirants on the ballot papers for various national executive positions. The first position in the National Chairmanship race went to former General Secretary John Boadu, followed by Sammy Crabbe in the second position.

Former National Chairman Paul Afoko secured the third position, while former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko occupied the fourth spot. For the General Secretary position, Sylvester Tetteh came in first, Eugene Boakye Antwi second, Justin Frimpong Kodua (the incumbent) third, and Dr Charles Dwamena fourth. Hajia Ruka Ahmed led the National Treasurer contest, with Alfred Kojo Thompson second and Tahiru Moomen third.

Dr Mustapha Hamid took the first position in the Vice Chairperson contest, followed by Kojo Bamba and Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah. Richard Ahiagba, Masawood Mohammed, Oti Aboagye, Abena Pokuaah Amoah Boaitey, and Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong rounded out the positions. For the National Organiser position, Kwame Prempeh, Agyenim Boateng, Archibald Gamor Korletey, Nana K, Ali Maiga Halidu, Emmanuel Korsi Bordja, and Daniel Nii Kwartey Titus Glover were listed, occupying positions one through seven, respectively.

Salam Mustapha, the current National Youth Organiser, withdrew from the contest. The National Youth Organiser race includes six aspirants, with Mr Alfred Kumi Ababio occupying the first position, Vera Oye Bram second, Michael Osei Boateng third, Abanga Fuseini fourth, Clement Opoku Gyamfi fifth, and Chris Lloyd sixth. Hajia Safia Mohammed secured the first position in the National Women Organiser contest, while Mavis Hawa Koomson was second.

Alhaji Ali Suraj, Isaka Muazo Kunata, Awal Mohammed, Alhaji Salim Bamba, and Razak Tahiru Maiga were listed for the Nasara Coordinator position in first through fifth places, respectively. Dennis Miracles Aboagye was the only aspirant for the National Communications Officer position, securing the first spot on the ballot paper. Some candidates expressed satisfaction with their positions, attributing them to divine favor, while others believed their positions on the ballot would impact their campaign strategies as they prepared for the October 3 polls.
