New Barberton party unveils mayoral candidate for City of Mbombela

The newly formed Barberton Community Party has introduced Ayanda Magagula as their candidate for the mayoral position in the City of Mbombela, Mpumalanga. The announcement was made during a manifesto launch in Barberton on Friday. This marks a new political party entering the race in Mpumalanga. The Barberton Community Party plans to contest local government elections across the City of Mbombela.

The party claims that the quality of service delivery has been on a decline since the former Umjindi Municipality was merged with Mbombela. The party's formation aims to give the people of Barberton and Umjindi a voice in the Mbombela council prior to the November Local Government Elections. Magagula asserts, "There have been problems for decades, so nothing has improved; hence, the community has consulted and decided to establish our own community party to address our own issues as a community.

We are entering the race as businesspeople and professionals who regularly provide services to our community. We are helping the community, and now we are doing so at a political level, where there is nothing new; we will simply be doing it for ourselves and restoring what Barberton once was."
