Nashik: Around 600 Ganesh Mandals Seek Permission For Ganeshotsav Pandal Setup

Nashik is buzzing with activity as around 600 public Ganesh mandals prepare for the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival. These mandals have applied online for permission from the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to set up their pandals, arrange electricity and sound systems, and plan the immersion processions. Last year, approximately 750 mandals had installed Ganesh idols in Nashik, and this year is expected to see a similar turnout.

The permission process involves collaboration between the NMC, police, traffic police, MSEDCL, and other relevant departments. In a welcome development for the mandals, Mayor Himgauri Aher-Adke has waived charges for pandals and stages, which is expected to expedite the approval process. The administration has issued guidelines, urging mandals to ensure their pandals do not impede traffic, and to make adequate parking arrangements available. Compliance with electricity safety norms and designated noise levels will also be compulsory.

The civic administration has emphasized the importance of adhering to sound limits, particularly when it comes to the use of DJs. Additionally, law enforcement officials have initiated discussions with representatives of Ganesh mandals to discuss security measures, traffic management plans, and the logistics of immersion processions. Sensitive locations, roads prone to congestion, areas earmarked for immersion processions, and regions likely to see large crowds are being identified for careful planning.
