‘My first thought was my family’: Dubai-based Bangladeshi expat wins Dh100,000 in Big Ticket

When Mohammed Rafiqul Islam learned he had won Dh100,000 in Big Ticket’s Series 290, his first concern was his family in Bangladesh. The 53-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate has lived in Dubai for 17 years, while his family remains there. Participating in Big Ticket as part of a group, the win was especially significant for Islam.

"I felt very happy when I found out we had won," he exclaimed. "Being away from family and working hard, moments like this mean a lot to me." He told the winning news brought him immense joy and happiness, especially knowing his family would be thrilled to hear the news. The Dh100,000 prize will be divided among the members of Islam’s group, and he is still contemplating what to do with his share.

The excitement of his win, however, inspired him to purchase another Big Ticket the very next day. "I just want to thank the Big Ticket team for this experience. It has brought us a lot of happiness, and we will definitely continue taking part," Islam said.
