Missing girl found safe in Bangkok after travelling alone for 16 days

A 17-year-old girl who had gone missing for 16 days in Thailand has been found safe in Bangkok. The teenager was reported missing by her family on August 24 after she left home and became unreachable. Police conducted initial searches but were unable to determine her whereabouts immediately. It was later discovered that she had traveled through multiple provinces in eastern Thailand before arriving in Bangkok.

During her journey, she reportedly stayed at various well-lit locations, including convenience stores and inexpensive daily rental rooms. She kept a diary documenting her experiences, which provided valuable insights to investigators. Her behavior was unusual since she was typically focused on her studies and had never exhibited such concerning actions before.

The Mirror Foundation had been following leads for around two weeks before police intensified their search efforts. A breakthrough occurred when a motorcycle taxi rider recognized the missing girl and remembered giving her a ride. However, he could not recall the exact location where he dropped her off. Investigators used this rider's memory to trace possible destinations and eventually found the teenager at a restaurant in Bangkok's Bueng Kum district on September 9.

The restaurant owner took in the teenager, providing her with money, shelter, and employment. She initially worked there for two days but stayed for approximately 10 more days, saving up 15,000 baht to return home. The teenager had been dealing with complicated personal problems and severe emotional distress, nearly to the point of taking her own life.
