Michael Carrick underlines key change at Man United since returning to club

Michael Carrick has emphasized the significant shift in expectations for Manchester United since his return to the club, following his victory in the January derby. After guiding United back into the Champions League last season, Carrick has secured the manager's position and raised the bar for the team. "I think going into the Champions League game and talking about the expectation there, I think it's a really good thing that it's shifted in a way, and all of a sudden there's different things asked of us now to maybe what was a few months ago, and we're in the Champions League," Carrick stated.

While he believes a win against Manchester City would be a significant achievement, Carrick warns against assuming the same outcome as last year. "I think there's no way we're assuming we won last year, we'll do the same things and everything will be the same," he added. Carrick is also keeping an eye on Luke Shaw's fitness ahead of the upcoming match, as Shaw missed Thursday's 4-0 victory over Sabah in the Champions League.
