Massive development projects transform Nkoranza South as Regional Minister tours sites

Nkoranza South is experiencing a surge of infrastructure development following a thorough evaluation by the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, alongside his team. This inspection encompassed significant advancements in the health, education, and justice sectors. Key highlights included the inauguration of a new Nursing Training College at Akropong, the Municipal Health Directorate, the Court Complex, the 24-hour market project, the Akropong CHPS Compound, dormitory and classroom blocks at Nkwabeng Senior High School, and substantial upgrades at the Nkwabeng Technical Institute.

At Akropong, the Regional Minister expressed his delight with the project's speed and quality. The Nursing Training College, initiated by the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South, Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, will feature an administration block, classroom blocks, dormitories for both genders, bungalows for the principal and vice principal, and an ICT center.

Mr. Antwi commended the contractor, consultant, Municipal Chief Executive, and the MP for their collaborative efforts. He also thanked the President for the intervention, expressing hope that the contractor would complete the project on time.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South, Mr. Godfred Dapaah, explained that the municipality had two types of legacy projects: those completed but awaiting payment, and others currently under construction. The Court Complex and the Municipal Health Directorate were among the latter. The Court Complex is approximately 55% complete, while the Health Directorate stands at 40%.

Both projects are crucial for the municipality's development, with the Court Complex set to house both Circuit and High Courts. The Health Directorate had been operating without dedicated office space, often sharing facilities with other departments.

In Nkwabeng Senior High School, Principal Mr. Christopher Mensah praised the government for addressing the school's infrastructure deficit following a steep enrollment increase. The school, established in 2019 as a private institution, saw its enrollment surge from 70 to 400 students in 2023, ultimately reaching 1,250. Prior to government intervention, the school lacked essential facilities such as dormitories, a dining hall, and classroom blocks.

The government has now provided two dormitories, a dining hall with a kitchen, and a six-unit two-storey classroom block, currently at the roof stage. A further six-unit block, initiated by the MP, is also underway. This new infrastructure will enable the school to accommodate up to 2,000 students this year, with a projected capacity of 3,500 next year. Mr. Mensah expressed gratitude to the government and other stakeholders for their support.
