Lindhurst treks to Lower Lake; MHS hosts East Nicolaus; 2-0 Yuba City heads south to DCA

Lindhurst High's football team has focused on rushing and defense to rebuild their program, as evidenced by their recent 28-20 victory over Marysville. The Blazers rushed for nearly 400 yards, thanks to junior Chan Hicks' 240-yard performance, and had multiple red zone stops on defense. LHS moves forward with a 1-1 record, heading to Lower Lake (0-0) for a 7 p.m. varsity game tonight to conclude nonleague action.

Head coach Troy Spangler wants his team to maintain their momentum and focus after the win over Marysville, praising their young, skilled backs and offensive linemen. Marysville, on the other hand, is back home after an 0-2 start, hoping to win their first game tonight against East Nicolaus. First-year head coach Bert Esposito is still finding his footing with a new system, noting that changing coaches and systems frequently can negatively impact a program's success.

East Nicolaus currently stands at 2-0, having defeated Linden and shut out West Valley in their first two games. The Spartans have traditionally struggled against MHS, but EN has shown strong form, with a 3-0 overall record in the MaxPreps’ Northern Section rankings. Wheatland (2-0) will take on Bradshaw Christian (0-1) in Sacramento tonight, while Sutter (2-0) hosts Bradshaw Christian next week in a back-to-back schedule.

Yuba City, one of seven 2-0 SJS Division IV teams in the top-10, concludes their nonleague slate tonight with a game against Destiny Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. Next week, YC opens with the Mayor’s Cup against River Valley.
