Late-round Cowboys draft pick was cut, now gets early $6M extension

Ryan Flournoy, a late-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys, has been given a significant early contract extension worth up to $6 million. The 26-year-old wide receiver, from Illinois, had shown notable improvement from his rookie year to his second season. Flournoy, who was cut late in August last year, was subsequently signed to the practice squad and later promoted.

He played 16 games last season, ranking as the third most targeted wide receiver on the team, behind George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and Jake Ferguson. Flournoy's performance included 40 catches for 475 yards and 4 touchdowns, making him a valuable asset to the offense. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Flournoy's adaptability to the team's teaching methods, expressing confidence in his future contributions. The extension effectively secures Flournoy's contract through the 2027 season.
