KP Launches E-Attendance System in Colleges

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Higher Education Department has officially introduced a Student e-Attendance system in degree colleges throughout the region. This innovative system enables parents to keep track of their children's attendance using SMS alerts sent directly to their mobile phones from any location. Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Local Government, Meena Khan Afridi, officially launched the system during a ceremony held at Government Degree College, attended by representatives from Zong Telecom, the Secretary of Higher Education, the Director of Higher Education, as well as educators and students.

The Higher Education Department also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zong Telecom to support the implementation of the digital attendance system. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Afridi explained that parents will receive regular SMS updates on their children's attendance, including information about any classes they may have missed.

This initiative is part of the department's broader digital transformation efforts aimed at modernizing higher education across the province. The department has previously implemented an e-transfer system and launched a ranking system for universities.

In addition to the e-Attendance system, Minister Afridi announced plans to introduce a hard-area allowance to support teachers working in remote and challenging areas. Furthermore, she revealed that a state-of-the-art hall would be constructed at Government Degree College Peshawar to provide students with cutting-edge educational facilities.
