Kindiki reveals how he survived bullets, bomb attacks while fighting bandits

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki recounted his own brush with death while serving as Interior Cabinet Secretary, outlining the numerous close calls he faced while battling bandits and terror groups across the nation. Kindiki emphasized the perilous nature of his job, detailing instances where bullets and landmines came dangerously close to his convoy, resulting in the unfortunate fatalities of some security personnel.

He recounted an episode where his convoy had narrowly escaped a mine-laden road, only for officers following to suffer attacks moments later. Kindiki attributed his survival to divine intervention, recounting how bullets had been narrowly missed on several occasions, leading him to attribute his life's preservation to God's grace.

He shared stories of long hours spent in the bush, away from his family, coordinating peace-restoring operations, which limited his personal time. Kindiki defended his tenure as Interior CS, recounting his achievements and efforts to restore security in strife-ridden regions, which he believed would be part of his campaign during the 2027 general election.

He clarified that he did not play a part in the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, refuting allegations against him and instead criticizing Gachagua's arrogance and poor service delivery, highlighting how these factors contributed to his impeachment. Kindiki firmly stated that no one, including President William Ruto, orchestrated Gachagua's removal, asserting that it happened following Kenya's constitutional process.
