iPhone Duo is Missing These 10 iPhone 18 Pro Features

The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable smartphone, introduces several novel features like Duo FaceTime and potential Apple Pencil support. However, the new device lacks several key features found in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. This article outlines ten such missing features on the iPhone Duo.

Firstly, the iPhone Duo does not feature a dedicated Telephoto camera with up to 8× optical zoom. In contrast, the iPhone 18 Pro series offers this capability. The main 48-megapixel Fusion camera in the iPhone Duo provides only 2× optical zoom. Additionally, the iPhone Duo's main camera lacks variable aperture, which allows for greater control over depth of field in photos and videos.

Another feature absent from the iPhone Duo is the higher-resolution 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera. The iPhone Duo's front camera, by comparison, is limited to 12 megapixels. The iPhone Duo also does not include an Action button, a touch-sensitive button that allows users to trigger shortcuts and actions directly from the lock screen.

Moreover, the iPhone Duo does not offer Face ID, a facial recognition technology used by the iPhone 18 Pro series. Instead, it relies on a Touch ID button for unlocking the device and authenticating purchases. The iPhone Duo also lacks LiDAR Scanner, a sensor that measures depth for augmented reality applications. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max series boast this advanced camera feature.

Further, the iPhone Duo is missing several advanced camera features from the iPhone 18 Pro series. These include Pro controls in the Camera app, ProRAW, ProRes RAW, spatial photos and videos, and more. Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models begin on September 12 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with a launch on September 18. In comparison, the iPhone Duo pre-orders commence on October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with a release date set for October 23.
