International Cloud Appreciation Day is September 11

International Cloud Appreciation Day takes place on September 11th each year. Organized by the Cloud Appreciation Society, the global event involves members from over 120 countries. The society invites individuals worldwide to capture images of their skies on this day and share the emotional responses they have to the clouds. Once uploaded, the Memory Cloud Atlas becomes accessible to all, featuring tens of thousands of images shared annually.

For instance, on past years, photos of cirrocumulus clouds resembling mackerel scales, mammatus clouds with rainbow hues, noctilucent clouds visible during dawn, and towering cumulonimbus clouds have been documented. The Cloud Appreciation Society encourages everyone to participate by photographing the clouds above them and reflecting on the experience, thereby contributing to a collective global snapshot of atmospheric beauty.
