India's IPO fundraising is set to surpass the ₹1 lakh crore mark in 2026, becoming only the fourth year to achieve this milestone. As of now, 81 IPOs have collectively raised approximately ₹83,062 crore this year alone. The upcoming IPO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is anticipated to raise around ₹23,000 crore, which, if successful, would propel the total fundraising past the ₹1.06 lakh crore threshold. This IPO is expected to launch next week.
The ₹1 lakh crore benchmark was previously crossed in 2025, 2024, and 2021, with the respective IPOs raising ₹1.76 lakh crore, ₹1.6 lakh crore, and ₹1.19 lakh crore. The anticipated Jio Platforms IPO, valued at around ₹35,000 crore, could further bolster fundraising efforts.
Should both the NSE and Jio Platforms IPOs proceed as projected, India's IPO fundraising for 2026 could surpass ₹1.44 lakh crore, solidifying it as the third-largest year for IPO collections. The current surge in fundraising activity is attributed to elevated share valuations and sustained investor interest from domestic institutional investors, primarily mutual funds with substantial inflows from local investors.
Aditya Kondawar, a partner and vice-president at Complete Circle Capital, highlighted that companies have been encouraged to tap the IPO market due to the high probability of guaranteed buyers for their securities. While some IPOs may be focusing on listing multiples rather than growth capital, the overall market sentiment appears favorable.
September has already witnessed 18 IPOs raising around ₹9,390 crore, while 23 IPOs launched in August raised approximately ₹28,649 crore. The strong fundraising momentum is taking place amidst improved listing gains in recent months. Around 28 IPOs listed in August and September have delivered an average listing gain of around 25%, compared to 5% for the 41 companies that made their debut between January and July. This represents a significant increase from the average listing-day gain of 10% per issue in 2025.
Equity strategist Kranthi Bathini from WealthMills noted that there is currently strong liquidity in the market, with robust retail inflows and SIP flows remaining robust. He also mentioned that a majority of IPOs have been experiencing strong subscription or oversubscription rates.
