Heavy rain brings flash floods in Tanah Rata

Following an afternoon downpour lasting nearly three hours, flash floods struck several sections of Tanah Rata, Malaysia. Tanah Rata's assemblyman, Ho Chi Yang, reported that the floods affected several houses, particularly in the Golden Hills housing estate and near the Mardi agro technology park. No injuries or damage to public facilities were reported as of yet.

Around five to six houses experienced damage, with some sofas and furniture being affected. The cause of the flooding is believed to be a nearby river and clogged drainage systems, especially in the area around Golden Hills. This incident was more severe than a similar event that occurred there two years ago. Residents of Golden Hills were seen clearing up after the flash floods that evening, watched over by Ho Chi Yang.

A minor landslide was also reported along Jalan Tengkolok, although no injuries were reported. Ho indicated that he will discuss possible assistance for the affected families with local authorities and investigate measures to prevent future clogging of rivers and drains in the area.
