GTA 6's PS5 Controller Pre-Orders Are Already Getting Ruined by Scalpers

Grand Theft Auto 6's limited edition PS5 controllers began pre-orders this morning, resulting in a chaotic experience for customers. Sony announced the availability of two themed controllers last week, prompting expectations of increased demand and potential scalping. Upon opening pre-orders, customers faced numerous issues, including long wait times and frequent errors on PlayStation's online store. Fortunately, the wait time eventually reduced, but the website continued to present challenges.

The controllers are selling out quickly across various retailers, although some availability remains. GameStop and Best Buy are currently sold out of the white controller, while Target and Amazon appear to have stock. The black controller, exclusive to PlayStation Direct, is still available. To curb scalping, users are limited to purchasing only one controller per account.

However, resellers on eBay are already listing the controllers for nearly double their original price, and it remains to be seen if buyers will actually make the purchases.

With pre-orders now open, Grand Theft Auto 6 is just over two months away from its November 19 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Marketing efforts are in full swing, but it's unclear what other announcements or trailers may come next. The release of the limited edition controllers signals the beginning of the endgame for the highly anticipated game.
