Grand Theft Auto 6 is already a Guinness World Record holder before its release, with the most-viewed game trailer in just 24 hours. The trailer amassed 475 million views in a single day, representing roughly 6% of the global population. As the official Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2027 notes, GTA 6’s trailers are breaking records even before the game's launch.

The second trailer initially held the title of the largest video launch of all time, though that record has since been eclipsed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Nonetheless, GTA 6’s 475 million views is an astonishing feat. The first trailer dropped in December 2023, followed by a second in May 2025, and an extended look trailer comprising 27 minutes of footage posted earlier this month.

This extended look could potentially have broken viewing records on Netflix, though it later became accessible on YouTube. Rockstar Games, the developer behind GTA 6, also holds numerous other records. Grand Theft Auto 5 is the best-selling action-adventure video game, with sales of 225 million copies as of February 2026. Additionally, it is the most-watched game on Twitch in 2024.

The latest Guinness World Records edition explores the year's biggest hardware advancements, popular video game characters and franchises, major content creators, and real-life achievements outside the virtual world. Available for $15.99 / £12.99 on Amazon and in bookshops, GTA 6 is set to make its debut on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
